“Ritual” is the 3rd song from “Beyond Consciousness”. It’s much different from the previous two. The Guitars are transposed (tuned in an altered way, different from the standard tuning) and the Drums are a mix of samples, loops and real Drums, and they give a very different texture to what’s been going on previously. I used a couple of techniques on the Acoustic Guitar that I learned from one of my biggest influences, the late Michael Hedges, I think it’s only fare to mention him here, plus he wrote some of the most beautiful music for guitar that’s ever been written, do yourself a favor and look him up if you haven’t listened to him before.

The Drums on this song were performed by my esteemed colleague Rodrigo Roa (the real drums of course), and the Bass was played by the exceedingly incredible Michael Manring, who did an excellent, most tasteful job.

It’s a funny thing to give titles to instrumental music, you can basically call them anything of course, but I like to make things click so I usually get nitpicky when choosing titles. I may start all theoretical about it but in the end it has to feel right. This track’s title comes from the middle part, that’s where the ritual is . I hope you get a kick out of it.
